"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

Life is like a Marathon

I Loved this sooooo much.
How many people would sign up for a marathon if they didn't think they could really finish it. We must have thought we could pass the test. In fact we were excited for the challenge to prove to our Heavenly Father we could Return with Honor.

Kindergarten graduation

Hollie graduated Kindergarten on June 10. She is so excited to be in first grade. We LOOOVED her teacher and are sad the year is over. She did have a tough year but I think she is ready for first grade. She didn't want to be a part of the program and sat in the audience with me the whole time. i had to walk her up to get her certificate.
We are so proud of you Hollie!

photo shoot

A couple weeks ago my friend Korinne Stowell tookthe kids out and took pictures. These are the ones I got with my camera. She did a much better job. Can't wait to see them all.

Slime

You will need:

Basic white school glue
Borax (found on laundry aisle)
Water
Mixing bowls
Spoon
Food coloring
Measuring cup
Measuring spoons

To make, mix equal parts of glue and water in a bowl. Set aside. Pour one cup of water in a bowl and add about one tablespoon of Borax and mix.

You want the Borax to completely dissolve in the water so that the water is saturated. Ours didn’t completely dissolve so we added a little bit more water until we got it just right. Once the solution is saturated, add two tablespoons of the glue and water mixture and stir quickly. The Borax binds the glue molecules to each other making the whole mixture a thick slime.

Add food coloring and knead into slime until color is thoroughly mixed throughout the slime.

You can make multiple batches of different colors and store them in Ziploc bags to keep them from drying out.

Fun in the Tub with Bathtub Paint

Kids love to painting. Moms don’t love to clean up the mess. What if you could combine painting with cleaning the bathtub?
This is bathtub paint. You can make it thick and use it as finger paint, or you can dilute it and use it with paintbrushes. This “paint” is washable, does not stain and will help you clean your tub.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Dish Detergent
  • 1/2 Cup of Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Cup of boiling water
  • Food Coloring (liquid kind is best)

I used antibacterial, scented hand soap. Know whatever soap you use, your kids will coat themselves with it – so be sure to pick something that won’t cause a reaction.

Directions:

Mix the cornstarch into the hot water until it is dissolved and the consistency is pasty. Add the soap and mix until there are no chunks. Add food coloring. Store in an airtight container.

The paint may separate slightly when stored, stir before use. Test the paint on a patch of your tub to ensure that your food coloring does not stain – and have fun!

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

Wanna keep your kids busy for a while?

We luckily live in a gated complex where the kids car ride in the street.
We had some chalk so I decided to draw them a little town with a road to ride their scooters on. There is even a jail for when they don't obey traffic signs!

Here is their house. and Trevor insistedwe put "Fish Lake (Utah) on here

There is a parking lot and a gas station too.

It really does keep them busy. I can just sit on a chair and read. (Still trying to finish book 4 of the Twilight saga) I know I know I''m behind.

Go get some chalk (I got a huge bucket at the dollar store) and make your kids a town. They will love it!
