Kindergarten

Hollie starts kindergarten August 25 and I have no clue what to get her as supplies. I am gonna get her a backpack but not sure what she will need. I don't want to spend a ton but want to make it exciting for her. HELP me out all you pros out there with school aged kids.

  1. From the teacher standpoint, I recommend waiting for the list from her Kindergarten teacher. Every teacher is going to want things specific to his/her classroom.
Things may be different out there, but I know teachers here don't really like rolling back packs and nothing too big or too small. Just a standard, normal sized back pack is best.
Some basics for Kindergarten may include several packs of crayons (usually just 8 or 12 count packs since they focus on working with those colors and the words in the beginning), blunt-point scissors, #2 wood pencils, glue sticks, and a rest mat if they do full-day Kindergarten there.
Many teachers also ask for things like tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, etc. to be used throughout the year by the entire class.
Again, things will probably be somewhat different out there, and each teacher's requests are going to vary slightly, but I wouldn't venture into folders, binders, markers, etc just yet. You may end up purchasing something that she will never get an opportunity to use.
I hope this helps some. :)

  2. Sarah the kindergarten teacher usually gives you a list, or sometimes the school posts it. I can't believe you have a kindergartener!
